Nokia Lumia Black update to add Bluetooth LE support for all Windows Phone 8 powered Lumia models

Nokia Lumia Black update to add Bluetooth LE support for all Windows Phone 8 powered Lumia models
Bluetooth LE is a power sipping version of Bluetooth that is used for accessories like heart monitors, blood pressure readers and other health related tools. Because Bluetooth LE draws much lower energy than other versions of Bluetooth, the small button batteries running the accessories are expected to run for months or even years.

The technology that created Bluetooth LE started back in 2001 at Nokia. Things have come full-circle considering that the Finnish based manufacturer is prepping an update called Black. This update will add support to Bluetooth LE. Nokia itself confirmed this on its support website.

Certain models already received support for Bluetooth LE with the Amber update. Those models include the Nokia Lumia 520, Nokia Lumia 620, Nokia Lumia 625 and Nokia Lumia 720. After the Lumia Black update is pushed out, all of Nokia's Windows Phone 8 flavored models will be compatible with Bluetooth LE.

Nokia has not yet offered a date when we can expect the Lumia Black update to be released.
