The so-called "app-gap" is typical for a nascent platform, but with time (and money) everything can be made better. With Instagram
and Vine already added to the Windows Store, the toughest nut to crack
will be Google's apps like YouTube, which Mountain View in unlikely to
grant to Windows Phones soon, as it sees in Microsoft a more formidable
competition than Apple, for instance.
Still,
Joe Belfiore's tweet might be a hint that Microsoft is finally planning a
major push for the Windows Phone platform, now that it will own Nokia's
smartphone division, and all the WP profits will stay home. That was
rumored to be the main reason that Microsoft reluctantly put efforts and
major updates in Windows Phone, knowing that the Lumias' success will
mostly pad Nokia's bottom line.
