Heads up, HTC Windows Phone 8X owners on Verizon, because you've got a nice weekend surprise coming your way. Verizon has posted support documents for Windows Phone 8 Update 3 on its official support page for the HTC Windows Phone 8X, and several users on Reddit report that the update is already rolling out. Update 3 brings with it some nice new features, including Driving Mode, the ability to close apps in the multitasking view and a screen rotation lock. Verizon's full changelog for the update is as follows:
KEY DEVICE ENHANCEMENTS
  • Choose whether or not to receive call and text notifications while in Driving Mode
  • Added ability to read aloud information on your phone calls, send text messages, and more with enhanced support for Mobile Accessibility*
  • BING applications are now supported (includes BING Finance, News, Sports and Weather)
    • App comes preloaded for new users
    • App is accessible for download via Windows Phone Store for existing users
  • Multitasking capabilities have been enhanced
    • Press and hold the back key to open a list of recently accessed apps
    • Select an app to reopen it, and tap the X to close it
  • Lock screen to portrait or landscape layout with Screen Orientation Lock
Not a bad little update, am I right? It was only a little over a month ago that Microsoft finally made Windows Phone 8 Update 3 official, so it's nice to see the Verizon variant of the HTC Windows Phone 8X already being treated to the update. If you're rocking a VZW HTC 8X and haven't yet gotten Update 3, you can check for updates manually by going into Settings > Phone Update > Check for Update. Just be sure to swing by the comments below and tell us all about how the update's treating you when you're done, mmmkay?
