As for the Galaxy Grand Lite we already told you
Samsung is expected to up the specs from the original in some respect,
putting a 5" 480x800 pixels display, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 5 MP
camera, 1 GB of RAM and a 8 GB of internal memory, plus a 2100 mAh
battery. This makes the Grand Lite sit somewhere between last year's Grand and the Galaxy Grand 2 that was just unveiled, keeping the dual SIM functionality.
Now
as to why would Samsung do something like that with the Lite versions,
the answer is pretty simple, akin to what the Koreans are doing with the
Galaxy S4 mini
- they capitalize on the Grand and Note brands built around the success
of their representatives, and build cheaper versions with lower specs
that will appeal to more people. Let's not forget how LG also introduced
a dual SIM G Pro Lite, which dials down the specs (and the price) of the original G Pro, while keeping the screen size.
