Given that an alleged Samsung Galaxy S5 metal frame
already leaked out, returning a roughly 5.3" screen diagonal when
measured, the conclusion is that this device, coded G900S, could be an
early Galaxy S5 prototype with 2K display, Android 4.4 KitKat and 2.5
GHz Qualcomm processor, judging from the specs table below.
The
graphics benchmarks are pretty stellar, but it's the processor that
raises some eyebrows - the MSM8974 listed below is Qualcomm's numbering
for a Snapdragon 800 processor, and the Adreno 330 GPU only comes to
confirm that. Not that Snapdragon 800 isn't a blazing fast processor,
but given that Qualcomm already announced its faster Snapdragon 805 will be in devices by next summer, and ARM hinted it's putting the final touches for the production of 64-bit Exynos with Samsung, we were expecting one of those last two to end up in an eventual Galaxy S5.
A
Snapdragon 800 won't really ensure that the S5 is futureproof, so this
is either an early prototype version of the phone, outfitted with the 2K
display for testing purposes, or some new gear, like a tablet, for
instance. The resolution, however, is more fitting to the onslaught of
2K phones we are expecting next year, and of which it's speculated the Vivo Xplay 3S will be a first representative come next week, and this one sports 2560x1440 pixels display, too.
The
"klteskt" product build tag hints that this is a device tested for
Korea's SK Telecom, and with an LTE radio at that, so it might very well
be an early Galaxy S5 engineering sample with a WQHD display, and the processor situation could change when the 64-bit Exynos and Snapdragon 805 hit the conveyor belts, or so we're hoping.
