Rejoice, clumsy iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c owners! New reports out of 9to5Mac and AllThingsD claim that Apple will begin performing in-store repairs on both of its new iPhone models in the near future. Sources speaking to the two sites say that Apple is gearing up to begin offering repairs for things like broken screens and replacement batteries, rear cameras, volume buttons and more.
It's also said that stores will be able to replace the regular Home button found on the iPhone 5c, but not the Touch ID-enabled button found on the iPhone 5s.
As far as pricing goes, customers with an iPhone that's under AppleCare warranty won't need to shell out anything to get their device fixed up. Customers without a warranty can reportedly expect to shell out around $149 to replace a broken display, $79 for a new battery and $29 for a new iPhone 5c Home button. Obviously the time required to perform the repairs will vary depending on what needs to be fixed, but screen replacements are expected to take between 30 minutes and an hour.
Apple began offering in-store repairs for the iPhone 5 earlier this year, and so it's good to hear that the Cupertino firm is planning to extend its repair program to its newest iPhones. Having to take your smartphone in to be worked on is never a good thing, but at least this repair program will allow customers to quickly get their original iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c repaired rather than having to pay more cash for a replacement unit and then spend extra time restoring their content and settings. There's no word yet on exactly when Apple stores will begin offering iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c repairs, but it's expected that they'll be added to the repair program before the end of the year.
